The flash flood in Ringlet, Cameron Highlands on Nov 5 had damaged federal roads which resulted in losses totalling RM8 million, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

As a result, he said, the Works Ministry would look for funds to repair the damaged roads.

"We will look for funds to repair the damaged federal roads with losses estimated to be about RM8 million.

"The damaged roads have also been cleaned," he told reporters after visiting the Pan Borneo Highway project site, at Batu 10 Jalan Kuching-Serian on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Fadillah said although the floods were under the responsibility of the Natural Resource and Environment Ministry and several other ministries, the Works Ministry would also render assistance in terms of technical aspects.

"The Works Ministry will provide technical advice through the Malaysian Public Works Department and the Pahang Public Works Department besides the task of repairing the affected federal roads," he added.
