The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has already distributed 98 per cent of its 9,784 food baskets nationwide under the second phase of Op Bantu.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim, said the remaining food baskets for those in Sabah and Sarawak will be distributed by this week.

"The operation to distribute the remaining two per cent, including in the rural areas which can be a challenge, is still continuing," he said today after handing out aid to orphaned children of Federal Reserve Unit families in Cheras.

He said that 3,120 food baskets were distributed under phase one of the goodwill operation.

The PDRM has also channelled financial aid to 82 orphaned children of 43 police families to help them get through the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The infaq (donation) totalling about RM30,362 comes from the community and Masjid Bukit Aman congregation. The RM300 aid has been distributed since last month," he said.
