Muslims in Malaysia will be celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri on Wednesday, July 6.

This was announced by the Keeper of the Rulers' Seal, Datuk Seri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad on live television at 8pm today.

"In keeping with the command of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, following the consent of the Rulers, I hereby declare that the date for Hari Raya Puasa for the states in Malaysia has been set for Wednesday 6 July 2016," he said.


Following this, federal civil servants will be entitled to a special leave on July 8.

Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca, Sabah and Sarawak have also declared a July 8 special leave for state government servants.

For civil servants in Terengganu, Kedah and Johor, state authorities have declared July 10 a special leave for them.
