KUALA LUMPUR:The period of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in Alor Setar Prison has been extended for another two weeks, starting October 19 until November 1, 2020.

Here are the five focus from the daily press conference on the development of COVID-19 by Senior Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today:

1) As of 17 October 2020,  1,178 positive COVID-19 cases involving 1,137 detainees and 41 prison staff have been recorded.

2) PDRM has detained 661 individuals for violating the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), this number has doubled compared to yesterday and Friday.

3) Of that number, 632 individuals were compounded and 27 were remanded.

4) Among the offences recorded were not wearing a half-face mask (223), failing to maintain physical distancing (191) and failing to provide equipment to record personal details (112).

5) The government is also focusing on security controls at the Sarawak border under Op Benteng covering land areas as well as waters to curb the entry of illegal immigrants.
