KUALA LUMPUR: As of yesterday, a total of 53,287 individuals in the first phase of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Program were inoculated.

Coordinating Minister for the National COVID-19 Immunisation Program, Khairy Jamaluddin said, of that number, Sarawak recorded the highest number of first dose injections administered to a total of 9,737 recipients.

He said the second highest state was Perak with a total injection of 5,714, followed by Pahang with 5,696 and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur with a total of 5,601 people.


“Other than that, Kelantan recorded a total injection of 4,593, followed by Johor (4,430), Kedah (3,017), Terengganu (2,438) and Selangor (2,047).

The state that recorded a total of more than 1,000, with Negeri Sembilan at 1,905 followed by Penang (1,821), Melaka (1,601), Sabah (1,317), Federal Territory of Labuan (1,285), Perlis (1,057) and the Federal Territory of Putrajaya, which is 1,028 individuals," he said in a tweet on his Twitter account here, on Wednesday.

On February 24, the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah became the first individuals to receive the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine after launching the National COVID-19 Immunisation Program.
