Four youths in two motorcycles broke into two cars and escaped with cash and valuables totalling about RM2,000, in separate incidents in Jalan Mohd Asaad here on Friday morning.

The vehicles, belonging to women, were parked less than two kilometres from each other.

In the first incident at 11.15am, the thieves took away a handbag from a Honda CRV belonging to a 33-year-old woman after smashing its front left window.

The car was parked at a road-shoulder.

About 15 minutes later, the four stole a purse belonging to a woman in her 20s, which was left in a car parked in front of the second victim's house in Taman Keladi here.

Again, the group had smashed the front left window of the car to commit the theft.

Kulim district police chief Supt Ghuzlan Salleh believed both thefts were committed by the group as important documents belonging to the two victims were found strewn near a garbage dump in Taman Selasih here.
