Taylor Swift retained her title as queen of all things social media for the week of November 3 through 9, defending her place at the top of Starcount's global social media chart in the wake of her latest album release.

In the US, Billboard reported that, having shifted 1.287 million copies in its first week, the star's LP "1989" could see a further 400,000 sales in its second week.

The singer was talked about by 2.6 million people on Facebook, where she earned 305,273 new likes. She was retweeted 52,047 times on Twitter and gained 465,253 new followers on Instagram.

Meanwhile YouTube star PewDiePie took second place in the charts, followed by singer Ariana Grande, who earned awards for best female artist and best song at the MTV Europe Music Awards on Sunday.
