The American actress who starred in "Source Code" and "Gone Baby Gone" is joining "True Detective," an upcoming HBO series.

Alexandra Daddario, Elizabeth Reaser, Michael Potts and Wood Harris will all be part of the cast, which is led by Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey.

"True Detective" will chart the paths of two inspectors, Martin Hart (Harrelson) and Rust Cohle (McConaughey), who have been tracking a serial killer in Louisiana for 17 years.

Michelle Monaghan will play Martin Hart's wife, Maggie. Hart is also close to a legal journalist played by Alexandra Daddario ("Percy Jackson & the Olympians").

Elizabeth Reaser, who starred as Esme Cullen in "The Twilight Saga," will play Rust Cohle's girlfriend, a surgeon in the hospital where Maggie works. Michael Potts ("Damages") and Wood Harris ("The Wire") will play detectives.

The story will be told from different points of view, with many switches between past and present.

If this narrative structure is successful, it will be carried through into the following seasons even though the plot will change, like the drama series "American Horror Story."
