Oscar host Chris Rock angered netizens when stereotyping Asians on stage during the 'live' telecast of the 88th Academy Awards ceremony that left a nasty aftertaste in the mouth.

Social media users were left perplexed and uncomfortable when Chris introduced three Asian children as “representative” of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), the accounting firm responsible for the final count on Oscar ballots.

Rock invited three children dressed as a businessman to stage as he caustically said, “they sent us their most dedicated, accurate and hard working representatives.

“Please welcome Ming Zhu, Bao Ling and David Moskowitz.

“If anybody’s upset about that joke, just tweet about it on your phone that was also made by these kids.”
Netizens quickly blased Rock for the sensitive joke.

Many believed that Rock should not have joked about child labor -- a social issue which is often associated to third world countries around Asia.

Here are some reactions from social media:

Rock hosted the glitzy awards ceremony which garnered a whopping 34 million viewers worldwide after an eight-year low.
