A multi-agency search and rescue (SAR) team, has found the wreckage of a missing Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) helicopter in a forested valley near the Chanthaburi and Rayong provinces today.

All three air force personnel onboard the Huey utility helicopter, have been confirmed dead, Air Chief Marshall Suthipong Inseeyong said in a statement here today.

The SAR team reached the accident site at 10.23am and found the three casualties identified as the pilot Squadron Leader Pasit Techasen, co-pilot Capt Alongkorn Chankrachang and Sgt Maj Visut Puttaraksa near the wreckage.

The ill fated helicopter went down on Saturday while on a routine mission to deliver supplies from Dong Mueang airbase, Bangkok to a radar station at Khao Chamao Mountain.

According to Suthipong, the remains of the three personnel will be flown to Don Mueng later today to be handed over to their respective families for funeral rites.

He said that the RTAF will continue their investigations into what caused the crash.
