The acclaimed World Marketing Summit 2013, (WMS 2013) hosted in Kuala Lumpur starting today to September 30th will unite some of the most influential and innovative marketing minds in the world, working in concert to deliver a “Better World Through Marketing”.

The line up of figures includes 30 inspiring speakers from 5 continents consisting of philanthropist, social activists, academicians, government representatives and corporate captains.

The brainchild of distinguished professor in International Marketing, Prof. Philip Kotler, this event will promote global marketing collaborations, committed to tackling real and focused socio-economic issues raised by the United Nations under its eight individual Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015.

These MDGs are made up of pledges by 189 countries in the year 2000 to define the minimum standard of living targeted for achievement by 2015 including eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary education, promoting gender equality, reducing child mortality rates and ensuring environmental sustainability.

However, fast-forward in 2010, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon had voiced concerns that these MDG targets will most likely not to be met by 2015, calling for a pressing need and paradigm shift in thoughts as conventional approach had not been successful.

Hence, two common visions are expected to materialize at the end of this 3 days summit, primarily in delivering a Blue Print and declaration charting marketer’s pledge in improving the standard of living of 8 billion lives across 5 continents through marketing.

Secondly, to gather a collective representation of ideas brought forth by corporations, non-governmental Organizations and academicians on the most effective ways social purpose contributions can be implemented without hurting the bottom line of organizations.

WMS 2013 will kick-start with the presence of distinguished speakers and impactful marketers such as the Chief Executive Officer of Al-Bashayer Investment Company UAE, Sarah Ismail Mohamed and Chief Executive Officer LeapEd Services Malaysia, John D.Chacko respectively on the topics of impact investment to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger and to achieve universal and primary education.
