Prasarana Malaysia Bhd has collaborated with Transport for London for a work placement programme to facilitate the exchange technical and operational information in public transportation.

Prasarana President/Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Azmi Abdul Aziz said this was part of Prasarana's initiatives to further enhance its capabilities to become a global integrated public provider.

"We want to give enough room and opportunities to Prasarana's employees to improve their skills for the benefit of public transport users.

"The programme, which starts this year, involves senior officials from both organisations undertaking and operationalising mutually agreed projects for a minimum period of two months," he told reporters here on Monday.

He was speaking after signing a memorandum of understanding, on behalf of Prasarana, with TFL Surface Transport Managing Director Leon Daniels.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Prasarana Chairman Tan Sri Ismail Adam and British High Commissioner to Malaysia Vicki Treadell.

The programme also involves sharing of professional expertise and experiences between Prasarana and Surface Transport.

Surface Transport's operational responsibilities, include managing London's 580km network of main roads and 6,000 traffic lights, transport policing and enforcement activities.

The MoU was an extension of an agreement signed between the Land Public Transport Commission and British Ministry of Transport in 2011.
