The Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) will lead a delegation of 15 Malaysian companies involved in construction, building materials and information communication technology (ICT) services on a specialised marketing mission (SMM) to London on March 7-11, 2016.

In a statement today, Matrade said, the SMM will be held in conjunction with Ecobuild at Excel London, a leading exhibition and conference for the construction and energy markets, as an effort to promote Malaysia's capabilities in those sectors.

"The companies are in the civil engineering works, architectural interior design and build, archifoam and flexistone, lightweight celuka, wooden products, energy efficient light-emitting diode, hardware and software consultancy services, Internet infrastructure and e-Commerce location-based services, among others," it said.

Its CEO, Datuk Dzulkifli Mahmud, said this initiative will portray Malaysia as the solutions providers for the UK market, particularly in the construction projects for smart city projects overseas.

"A total of 100 one-on-one business meetings with 50 potential importers in the UK has been pre-arranged by Matrade's London office for the Malaysian participants," he said.

Dzulkifli said this mission will provide an opportunity for Matrade to explore any untapped opportunities for Malaysian companies in the UK's construction, building materials and ICT services.

"It will also serve as a good platform for the Malaysian participants to search for their new potential agents, distributors or importers," he said.

Ecobuild brings together 85 percent of the top 100 architects, 92 percent of the top 50 contractors and house builders and 57 percent of the top-30 foreign importers.
