The humble Saree, an attire worn by Indian women from many centuries ago, has evolved so drastically that in today's modern time, there are so many variations of it.
International Saree Guru and cosmetologist, Pallavi Sri, says people nowadays are spoilt for choice with the wide array of Sarees available, especially during festive seasons such as Deepavali.
"In Malaysia, not only Indians will don the Saree during Deepavali, even non-Indians do so because of the elegant look it creates.
"Today, wearing Sarees has become a fashion," she says.
Pallavi says there are some particular types of Sarees that people can opt for to wear for Deepavali:
Casual Saree
"Casual Sarees are one of those versatile Sarees that can be worn daily. The material for this type of Saree is usually thin and breathable. Some even wear it for shopping," says Pallavi.
She says Casual Sarees are normally priced anything between RM40 and RM140.
Cotton Saree
Pallavi says Cotton Sarees are perfect for Malaysia's hot weather. "It also won't hurt your budget," she says.

The designer cotton Saree is perfect for daily wear and has a price range of between RM400 and RM1,200.
