WHEN I read the news about our very own Youth and Sports Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar who will be participating in polo event at the SEA Games, I was thinking to myself… what?

Is there anything this 39-year-old, father of three from Rembau can’t do?

Let’s face it. It is not often that a combo of wit, brawn and charm can be identified in a politician. Simply because this kind of concoction is extremely rare.

All over the world even, there are only a few. For example, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau or Mayor of Pelotas, Brazil, Eduardo Leite, and even current Mexican Prime Minister, Enrique Peña Nieto.

All three are sure to send hearts fluttering and throbbing with excitement.

And so, as a Malaysian, I am proud to say that KJ is right up this alley and therefore eligible to be on the list of handsome and intellectual politicians.

Tall and dark, with droopy ‘smizing’ eyes. When he speaks, he speaks so eloquently; plus the ability to push for physical boundaries is just insane.

His alma mater: Oxford and London College. If that is not enough, he is currently learning Mandarin.

KJ is also an avid writer and was once a journalist and TV host.

He also writes and reads poetry!

So really, is there anything that KJ cannot do?

KJ can go down, on his chest and give you 20 (straight-up) push ups, putting younger news anchors in my office to shame.

KJ can, not just skateboard his way to coolness, but also ‘ollie’ and probably ‘nollie’ away curbs (almost) nonchalantly.

Oh, he snowboards too.

KJ got moves and grooves that jive with the music, evidently so when he zumbas.

Talking about music, KJ can play the guitar and the drums like a rock star.

KJ is a commander of the reserve army, he can fly a helicopter, ride his classic Triumph bike, and jump off planes.

He can run marathon; actively involved in races like the Spartan race (which requires extremely good physiques and stamina to make it to end of the line); overcome huddles and obstacles (like rope climbing, barbed wired crawl and bucket brigade), just to name a few.

Most importantly, KJ has that kind spirit.

I remember my mother-in-law telling me how KJ had helped her fix the roof after a series of storm during the monsoon season in 2012 in Linggi.

And I remember vividly that my mother-in-law blushed like a true KJ fangirl just talking about it.

And have you seen his cover on Men’s Health magazine? Can any minister top that?

Well let’s face it, human beings are predominantly visual creatures. The imaging process in our brains functions better when we see what we like. And this we can’t deny.

Let’s give credit when credit is due, shall we?

So keep up the good work taking care of our youth and sports. The same goes to your health and that chiselled physique, KJ, along with hopes that men like you will get women like me to be more involved and interested in the long and winded path of politics everywhere.

So, good luck making it through the SEA games.
