The idea of sniffing your way to a date has been embraced by the French, as Paris prepares to host its first Pheromone Party just in time for Valentine's Day.

The concept, which originated in LA and has been working its way around the US for the past couple of years, works on the theory that each individual's natural scent can trigger sexual attraction.

Guests at a Pheromone Party are therefore invited to arrive with a T-shirt they have slept in for three consecutive nights, infused with their natural odor.

Of course, the fashionable French wouldn't dare look for love in any old scruffy college tee. A collaboration with Uniqlo means that the ever-chic Parisians will be provided with identical cotton garments and a ziplock bag before the event.

Upon arrival, guests place their t-shirt in its numbered bag (to conserve the pheromones) on a table, for others to smell at their leisure. Guests who come across a scent they like then have their picture taken with the bag in the event's photo station and the photos are displayed on giant screens throughout the night.

Paris's Pheremone Party will take place on February 14. For more information see pheromoneparties.com.
