Two players and officials of T-Team on Monday night swore on the Quran before Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said in a special ceremony at Hotel Tabung Haji & Convention Centre here.

It was held after Ahmad requested T-Team players and officials to swear on the Quran regarding the tunnel incident during the FA Cup match against Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) at Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium, Johor Baharu on February 1.

However, T-Team defender Irfan Abd Ghani who held a press conference to support JDT's case was absent during a meeting with officials and players of T-Team and the Terengganu state team.

The swearing ceremony which started at 10pm was led by assistant coach Azlan Johar and midfielder Khairan Izuan Razali, the housemate of Irfan.

Also present were State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Rozi Mamat and Football Association of Terengganu president Datuk Wan Ahmad Nizam Wan Abdul Hamid.

Ahmad in his speech said that the swearing ceremony was to seek the truth and reminded the players and officials who witnessed the incident not to lie.

When met after the ceremony, Ahmad challenged Irfan to swear before him to establish the truth and uphold national football.

"I am willing to pay for his plane ticket to so that he can come for the swearing. Don't lie to the people of Terengganu. We want to establish the truth as it involves dignity and self esteem."

He was proud of the players and officials who took part in the swearing ceremony as it showed that they were honest.

Irfan had issued a statement in Johor claiming the tunnel incident did not happen and this was contrary to the stance taken by T-Team.

It also violated the terms and conditions set out in the contract with his employer T-Team.

Irfan has failed to report for training today after he was given two days leave by coach Mohd Azraai Khor Abdullah on February 3.
