Terengganu and T-Team players who are not disciplined or not performing up to expectations in the Super League, will have their salary deducted as the state plans to introduce a performance-based system.

Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said the decision to deduct the salary of players who are indisciplined or not performing was taken following a spate of incidents last season whereby players were deemed to have intentionally incurred the wrath of the referee to receive yellow or red cards, thus disrupting the formation and rhythm of the team.

"I will not tolerate players who are not disciplined because the state government invests a lot of money to run both teams," he told reporters after witnessing players from Terengganu and T-Team signing their respective contracts here last night.

Ahmad said this year the state government would spend about RM7 million for both teams to feature in the M-League.

"We are worried that indisciplined players may derail our hope of winning at least one trophy this year, just like what had happened last season.
