The national women's junior squash team won the Asian Junior Team Championships in Chennai after defeating Hong Kong 2-0 yesterday.

Aira Azman put on a strong performance by defeating Wai Sze Wing 11-2, 11-9, 11-5 for the first point while J. Yasshmita delivered the second point for the win, beating Toby Tse 11-5, 7-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-7.

The four player team, including Whitney Isabelle Wilson and Doyce Lee, who were competing in the championship for the first time, managed to extend the national team's string of victories to four consecutive wins, having won in 2015, 2017 and 2019 previously.

Meanwhile, Malaysia put up a good fight against challengers Pakistan, but lost 0-2 in the semi-finals of the men's team event on Saturday.

Harith Daniel Jefri lost to Noor Zaman 11-13, 6-11, 6-11 while Syamiel Hayzad Shahrulhisam went down to Muhammad Ashab Irfan 4-11, 8-11, 6-11.
