World No 1 Lee Chong Wei hardly broke a sweat as he went on to net his ninth Malaysia Open title at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Sunday.

The star brushed aside Indonesia's Sony Dwi Kuncoro 21-7, 21-8 to bag the main prize.

This is Chong Wei's second victory of the year after bagging the Korea Open title exactly a week ago.

Having settled for the silver medal at the London Olympics last year, the win in front of the home crowd came as a good motivation as Chong Wei, and his newly wed wife former national player Wong Mew Choo, are expecting their first child.

However, mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying gave a good fight before going down 21-13, 21-18 to Danish pair Joachim Fischer Nielsen-Christinna Pedersen in the other final.
