IPOH:Perak Dewan Negara member Datuk Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini has denied saying that no PAS assemblymen would be appointed to the Perak state executive council (Exco).

He described as malicious a statement viralled on social media which quoted him as allegedly saying this.

"I am seeking advice on whether to lodge a police report on the viral statement," he told Bernama here today.

He was commenting on the viralled statement which reads: 'Five more Perak Exco members to be sworn in this afternoon. However, the appointments do not involve PAS assemblymen, said Mohd Annuar Zaini. Complete line-up of 10 Excos. So how?'

Earlier, Mohd Annuar had told reporters outside Istana Kinta that Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah had consented for five more Exco members to be sworn in this afternoon but he did not mention any names.

On Dec 10, five Exco members were sworn in to serve under the new Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad.

Four of them - Datuk Zolkafly Harun (BN-Lintang), Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya (BN-Rungkup), Datuk Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin (BN-Kampung Gajah) and Khairul Shahril Mohamed (BN-Bota) - had also served under the previous administration of Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu while Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin (Bersatu-Sungai Manik) is a new face.

Meanwhile, Mohd Annuar said his wife told him about the fake news posting on Facebook at about 3.50 pm but he did not know who owned that social media account.

"I suspect there are individuals trying to slander me and undermine my credibility as the palace spokesman,” he told reporters after lodging a report at the Kampung Rapat police station here.

Apart from denying the viral posting, the police report was also to enable the authorities to conduct investigations as it was feared that the false statement could affect the good name of the palace, he added.
