PAS deputy spiritual leader Datuk Ahmad Yakob is concerned over the establishment of many political parties as it will only reduce the 'voice' of the people they represent.

However, he said that in a democratic system, anyone was free to form a political party.

"In terms of democracy, we can not stop anyone from forming a party, it is up to them, but...it will understate their voice," said the Kelantan Menteri Besar after attending a Petronas flood aid handing over ceremony at Kota Darulnaim Complex here Tuesday.

Ahmad was commenting on the setting up of new political party called Gerakan Harapan Baru (Harapan Baru) by several ousted PAS leaders to unite all political parties under Pakatan Rakyat.

Its pro-tem chairman, Mohamad Sabu said the party hoped to unite all political parties under Pakatan Rakyat and NGOs in line with their ideology.

Meanwhile, PAS Youth head, Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz said the party's decision to revoke the political cooperation with DAP was a right decision and and in accordance with the wish of his late father Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

Nik Mohamad Abduh said his father, who was PAS spiritual leader, had expressed the view that if they wanted to break-up, let the DAP start it first.

"He told me not to break up with DAP until they make the decision to cut (break) with PAS first, and it has happened," he told reporters when met here Tuesday.

PAS Syura Council, the highest decision making body in PAS, in its latest meeting last week, ordered the party to break all ties with its Pakatan Rakyat partner DAP and only work with its other partner, PKR.
