Wanita UMNO chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil today criticised the 'intimacy' between former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and DAP leader Lim Kit Siang.

She also expressed sadness over the action by the ex-statesman, who was once seen as a respectable leader, willing to go through ups and downs with party members.

Addressing the Wanita UMNO assembly, she pointed out that Dr Mahathir should not have been in cahoots with the opposition leader, who previously did not get along with him.

"The worst is when we see our former leaders conspiring with the opposition. I feel a mixed feeling of sadness, anger and everything.

"The day I saw him sitting 'comolot' with Lim is the darkest day in my life. I was ashamed. We've been together through thick and thin, for 22 years," she said in her policy speech at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here today.

'Comolot' is the modern slang used to show extreme intimacy between two people.

She said Dr Mahathir's personal political agenda is unacceptable and only seeks to destroy the country.

Thus, Shahrizat urged the Wanita leadership to rise against attacks by the opposition because he believed Wanita Umno are neither coward nor timid.
