Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad seemed unimpressed with both candidates for the United States' presidential election – Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

"Both are equally bad, if you ask me. Of course, if you want me to pick, it has to be Clinton.

"Trump is a real wildcard. We do not know what he will do.

"This is the problem there, despite being the country that 'rules' the world, it seems they are unable to pick good leaders," the former premier mused.

Dr Mahathir was asked to give his take on the race for the White House between Democratic candidate Clinton and her rival, Republican candidate Trump.

The presidential election will be held on Nov 8.
