Former Batu Gajah MP Fong Po Kuan will not be contesting in the 13th general election, due to personal reasons.

Po, who served the Batu Gajah parliamentary constituency for three terms, said that she had informed DAP leaders about her decision through a letter in September last year.

"I wish to inform that I will not be contesting any seat in the 13th general election due to personal reasons.

"I have written and informed DAP leader Lim Kit iang and party chairman Karpal Singh of my decision since last September," she said in a statement yesterday.

During the previous general election, she won the Batu Gajah parliamentary seat with a majority of 24,627 vote. She obtained 39,922 votes against Cheah Yoke Can of BN-MCA who obtained 15,295 votes.

There were 911 spoilt votes.
