The election process will continue on as usual at Lahad Datu, Semporna, and Tanduo village which were under attacked by Sulu terrorists since February.

Elections Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof confirmed this during a press conference held after the official announcement of polling day for the 13th General Election.

“No issue on the election at Lahad Datu, Semporna, and Tanduo village. It will go on,” he said.

Abdul Aziz said he will handover security issues at the affected areas to the national security forces.

“The police and army know their work. If they think security should be tightened, they will tighten it.

“I’ve been told that the general situation there is getting better,” he added.
