The Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris (UPSI) website was hacked by late last night by hackers known as ‘AnonGhost’.

This was the first time that the website was hacked.

According to UPSI chief-information officer, Mohd Nazri Md Saad the incident was identified at 12.30 night on Sunday.

“Our website was hacked at 12.30 last night and was successfully restored three hours later.

“The attack, to date has not caused any adverse effect to users as IT officers had managed to reboot the website before working hours,” he said when contacted by Astro AWANI, today.

Mohd Nazri added, although precautionary steps have been taken by the IT department, the website had still been hacked.

“We are still investigating who is responsible in doing this,” said Mohd Nazri.

During the time of incident, UPSI’s main page on its website was replaced with a black screen with a message which expressed its dissatisfaction over the financial crisis, human rights and the arrest of innocent people.

A logo bearing the name ‘AnonGhost’ was also attached to the message.

UPSI is the first education university in Malaysia located at Tanjung Malim, Perak.

It was first established in the year 1913 aimed at educating young educators.

Earlier this year, as many as two government websites were believed to have been hacked by hackers known as "Team EvilSha0w".
