The Umno Youth today objected the increase in taxi and express bus fares announced by the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) on Thursday.

Its deputy chairman, Khairul Azwan Harun, stressed that the reasons given by SPAD for the increase was weak.

SPAD in announcing the new rate said that the new rate was decided following the increase in costs such as maintenance, insurance and cost of living.

“What is the use of the Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) technology used by taxis and buses? NGV should infact help overcome the fuel costs for public transports. What is the actual cost increase?” Khairul asked on his personal Twitter account today.

He said thart the Umno Youth will be handing over a memo to object the increase to SPAD through the UMNO Youth Bureau of Quality of Life at 3pm today.
