Two more Form Five students were detained by police yesterday to assist investigations into a bullying incident at a religious school in Pendang on Saturday.

Pendang police chief DSP Abdul Aziz Ahmad said the duo could not be arrested earlier because they had returned to the homes in Sungai Petani after being asked to leave the school's hostel.

"The two students surrendered themselves at the Pendang police station at 5.15pm yesterday. This brings to 15 the number of students detained to assist investigations," he told Bernama.

He said investigations were ongoing and a decision whether they are to be remanded or released on police bail had yet to be made.

In the incident, Muhammad Ammar Aqil Zainudin, 13, from Taman Ria Mesra, Gurun was allegedly bashed up by about 30 seniors around midnight at the senior students hostel.
