Two men, armed with a pistol and a machete, robbed a petrol station in Rantau Abang near here of about RM4,000 last night, police said today.

The men came to the station at 7.15 pm when only two women employees were on duty, drew the weapons and ordered the women, in their 20s, to sit down, said Dungun Police chief Supt Dahlan Mohd Noor.

They then grabbed the cash and prepaid cards from the cash register, and fled in a car driven by an accomplice towards Kuala Terengganu, he said.

Dahlan said police were trying to trace the robbers from the recording of a CCTV camera at an ATM machine in the shop at the station because the CCTV camera at the station itself was not functioning owing to recent repairs done at the premises.

He also appealed to eye-witnesses to contact the nearest police station.
