Police have arrested three men in Pahang and the federal capital for suspected involvement in Daish militant activities, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
The Counter Terrorism Division of the Special Branch in Bukit Aman nabbed two of them in Kuantan, Pahang, on Friday and one in Kuala Lumpur last Sunday, he said in a statement here today.
Khalid said one of the suspects was a 37-year-old Indonesian permanent resident who had worked as a security guard at Malaysia Airlines Berhad.
The suspect left for Turkey in 2013 and had links with Malaysians who joined Daish in Syria, he said.
"A police investigation found that the suspect had planned to take his wife to Syria to join Daish. Police seized an airsoft gun and three books on 'Tarbiyah Jihadiyyah'," he said.
Khalid said another of the suspects was 32 years of age and had been a security guard at a private firm.
He is suspected to be a Daish member who desired to join the militants in Syria. Police seized a Trusty PM4 shotgun from him, he added.
Khalid said the suspect arrested in Kuala Lumpur was aged 38 and unemployed.
He said an investigation revealed that the suspect had admitted to supporting Daish and had threatened to launch a bomb attack on the Negeri Sembilan Mufti Department because it allegedly did not adhere to Islamic law.
"Prior to that, the suspect, through his Facebook account, had made death threats and threatened bomb attacks around Kuala Lumpur," he said.
Khalid said the suspects were arrested on suspicion of having committed offences related to terrorism and would be investigated under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012. -- BERNAMA
