Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman is expected to meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in Putrajaya on Wednesday to discuss the crisis in the Terengganu government.

State Tourism and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jidin Shafee, in a text message to Bernama, said several assemblymen including him would accompany the menteri besar to the meeting.

Mohd Jidin, who is also Permaisuri assemblyman, said the prime minister would meet the menteri besar after chairing the cabinet meeting.

Terengganu was thrown into a political quagmire after Kijal assemblyman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, who resigned as menteri besar, quit Umno after his successor, Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman, who is also Seberang Takir assemblyman, was sworn in on Monday night.

Ahmad Said's decision prompted two more Umno assemblymen, namely Ghazali Taib (Ajil) and Roslee Daud (Bukit Besi), to follow suit. The trio have since declared themselves Independents.

This reduced the BN representation in the state legislative assembly from 17 to 14. PAS has 14 representatives in the assembly and PKR, one.
