A man was remanded for seven days to facilitate police investigations after allegedly killing his own grandmother by decapitating her at her house in Felda Penggeli Timur, near Kulai yesterday.

Kota Tinggi magistrate court registrar, Hairul Azhar Mohamad today ordered for the remand beginning Aug 16.

In the 6pm incident, the 19-year-old suspect, who was said to be mentally unstable, apparently beheaded his grandmother with a knife before placing her head at the house entrance.

As for the victim's body, they were found under the kitchen sink with her hands and legs slashed.

The suspect then fled to a nearby oil palm plantation but was later arrested around 8.20pm after a manhunt was launched.

It is believed the suspect had skipped his medication for several months.
