KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO leaders have been urged to stop the ‘shadow play' and sever ties with Perikatan Nasional (PN) government immediately.

In a statement on Thursday, Member of Parliament for Gua Musang Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah suggested that the UMNO Supreme Council (MT) meet immediately and amend the decision to be with the PN government until Parliament is dissolved.

"That’s a miscalculation. Sever ties and quit the PN government now.

“Stop the shadow play! There is no benefit and no effect!

"My sincere advice to all UMNO members in the government and GLC (government-linked companies), (Tan Sri) Muhyiddin Yassin has threatened to throw us out.

“Wait no more, quit immediately and take care of self-dignity and the dignity of UMNO," he said.

On Thursday, the Secretary-General of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the content of the letter sent by UMNO President, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on February 26 has great implications for future cooperation between UMNO, Bersatu and PN.

Following that, he said, Bersatu decided to continue to focus on empowering cooperation with its partners in PN, namely PAS, STAR, SAPP and Gerakan based on honest and sincere struggle for the people to win the next election.
