The Ministry of Education (MoE) has set June 24 as the opening day for schools involving students sitting for SPM, SVM, STPM and STAM public examinations as well as international equivalent examinations nationwide.

Senior Minister (Education), Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin, said the reopening involved 500,444 students from 2,440 schools of public and international examinations across the country.

"For the information of everyone, having taken into account the views and advice of the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the National Security Council (MKN), the MoE has set the date for the reopening of schools for public examination students, namely SPM, SVM, STPM and STAM and the corresponding international examinations nationwide, on Wednesday, 24 June 2020," he said at a press conference here on Wednesday.

He said the Ministry of Education would announce the opening of schools for the rest of the classes in stages.

"For now, home-learning will continue. As teachers return to school, teaching and learning approaches can be diversified with access to the school's facilities.

"We at the Ministry of Education are very hopeful that the reopening of schools from June 24, 2020 will be smooth to enable children to continue their schooling safely.

"What is important is that we all have to obey the direction and advice of the government. We pray that the situation will be back to normal and all students will be able to return to school," he added.
