KUALA LUMPUR:Six more new COVID-19 clusters were reported today with two in Kuala Lumpur and one each in Selangor, Johor, Putrajaya and Sabah.
Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, the two clusters in Kuala Lumpur are known as the Baiduri Cluster and the Bah Perdana Cluster.
Meanwhile, he said, the cluster in Selangor is known as the Bah Tropicana Cluster; Sabah (Kolong Cluster); Johor (Rinting Cluster) and Putrajaya (Bah Kasturi Cluster).
Further details on the clusters are as follows:
1) Baiduri Cluster, Kuala Lumpur
This new cluster involves Hulu Langat district, Selangor and Cheras district, Kuala Lumpur.
The index cases for this cluster (ie 14,312 cases) were identified as COVID-19 positive, as a result of pre-surgical screening on October 7 and were admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital.
Close contact screening has detected 17 more COVID-19 positive cases.
As of October 12, a total of 39 individuals have been screened and the results are:
• 18 cases detected positive COVID-19
• 12 negative individuals
• Nine individuals are still waiting for a decision
2) Bah Perdana Cluster, Kuala Lumpur
This new cluster has been identified in the Cheras district, Kuala Lumpur.
The index case for this cluster (ie 11,305 cases) has been identified as COVID-19 positive, as a result of screening returnees back from Sabah on September 28 and has been admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital.
Close contact screening has identified eight more COVID-19 positive cases.
As of October 12, a total of 22 individuals have been screened and the results are:
• Nine cases tested positive for COVID-19
• 13 individuals are still awaiting results
3) Kolong Cluster, Sabah
This new cluster was identified in the Keningau district, Sabah.
The index case for this cluster (i.e. 13,548 cases) was identified as COVID-19 positive, as a result of screening in the community on 7 October and was admitted to Lahad Datu Hospital.
Close contact screening has identified seven more positive COVID-19 cases.
As of October 12, a total of 92 individuals have been screened and the results are:
• Eight cases tested positive for COVID-19
• 81 negative individuals
• Three individuals are still awaiting a decision
4) Bah Tropicana Cluster, Selangor
This new cluster was identified in the Petaling district, Selangor.
The index case for this cluster (ie 11,804 cases) has been positively identified as COVID-19 as a result of screening back from Sabah on October 2 and has been admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital.
Close contact screening has detected 13 more COVID-19 positive cases.
As of October 12, a total of 147 individuals have been screened, and the results are:
• 14 cases detected positive COVID-19
• 105 negative individuals
• 28 individuals are still awaiting results.
5) Rinting Cluster, Johor
This new cluster involves the districts of Melaka Tengah in Melaka and Johor Bahru in Johor.
The index case for this cluster (ie the 14,350 case) has been identified as COVID-19 positive, as a result of work entry screening on October 7 and has been admitted to Melaka Hospital.
Close contact screening has identified seven more positive COVID-19 cases.
As of October 12, a total of 162 individuals have been screened, and the results are:
• Eight cases tested positive for COVID-19
• 97 negative individuals
• 57 individuals are still awaiting results
6) Bah Kasturi Cluster, Putrajaya
This new cluster involves several districts and states namely;
• Seremban District, Negeri Sembilan;
• Cheras and Putrajaya Districts, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya
• Klang, Petaling, Hulu Langat, Gombak and Kuala Langat, Selangor Districts.
The index case for this cluster (ie 12,553 cases) has been identified as COVID-19 positive, as a result of the screening return from Sabah on 24 September and has been admitted to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital, Negeri Sembilan.
Close contact screening has detected 17 more COVID19 positive cases.
As of October 12, 2020 a total of 305 individuals have been screened, and the results:
• 18 cases tested positive for COVID-19
• 277 negative individuals
• 10 individuals are still waiting for a decision
