"Let me be sacrificed, I accept various insults but finally the people (in Kemabong) can benefit."

Incumbent Kemabong State Assemblyman (ADUN), Jamawi Jaafar offered this explanation when asked about his actions in support of the Tan Sri Musa Aman group recently.

Jamawi explained to Astro AWANI that his action was done for the development of the people and the Kemabong area.

"In the early stages, why I (joined) the Parti Warisan Sabah was to be with the ruling government which was also in line with the Federal Government at that time (Pakatan Harapan).

"This time people are questioning why I went back to the old house (supporting the Musa coalition) but they do not think this old house has already formed the Federal Government.

"So, I think the people's needs are more important than my own interest. Let me be sacrificed, I accept insults but eventually the people will get the benefits," he said when met by Astro AWANI recently.

On July 29, Jamawi was among 13 assemblymen who supported Musa until they claimed to have a full majority to form a new state government.

However, the next day, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal dissolved the Sabah State Assembly (DUN) after obtaining the consent of the Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.

"I HAVE NOT BEEN BOUGHT"

Apart from that, Jamawi stressed that he was not 'bought' by certain parties to support Musa's coalition but the support was to establish good cooperation with the Federal government leaders.

Asked on his relationship with Mohd Shafie as he was a student of the Semporna Member of Parliament while in UMNO, Jamawi said it remains good.

Meanwhile, when asked whether he will contest the Kemabong seat in the 16th State Election (PRN), Jamawi is leaving it to the top leadership of Perikatan Nasional (PN).

"I leave this nomination matter to the top leadership. For me to be a candidate or not, that is the second thing, I will continue to serve the Kemabong area," he said, declining to reveal whether he is joining any party.
