Sabah police will 93 new Proton Preve cars to replace the Proton Waja CPS with the end of their five-year contracted use.

State police commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said replacing the Proton Waja cars would be done in stages for the Sabah police headquarters and 20 district police headquarters.

He said 39 Kawasaki KLX250-S motorcycles and four Isuzu NPR lorries would meanwhile be handed over to the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) police headquarters and eight police stations in the Eastern Sabah Safety Zone (ESSZONE).

Hamza was speaking to reporters after the handing-over of investigation officer vehicles by Spanco and police station vehicles for the ESSZONE, at the state police contingent headquarters in Kepayan, here, today.

He said police operations would be smoother and more effective with the new cars and motorcycles.

Meanwhile, Spanco's client management service senior manager, Mohamed Shaheeran Jalalludin said the Sabah police headquarters would be the first to receive the replacement cars in two phases, with 93 units under the first phase and another 195 under the second.

"These vehicles are more suitable for policing work as they have high-powered engines and will be used for five years, during which any problem with the vehicles would be borne by Spanco.
