PKR deputy Wanita Chief Rodziah Ismail has announced she will contest in the top post for the wing during the PKR leadership elections. The incumbent for the post is Ampang MP Zuraidah Kamaruddin.

She said in a statement that the grassroot level has called for a change in the women’s wing.

"The change will provide freshness towards the implementation of the wing’s agenda in the future.

"It is a call that cannot be ignored and I have come forward and be a leader that is wanted by the female members of PKR: collective-decision making, transparency and conformity based on the party’s guidelines and constitution,” she said.

Rodziah also urged other capable women to come forward to contest in the various leadership posts in the women’s wing.

"The aim is to build a line-up of female PKR leaders that’s more robust towards building a community
with care and empathy,” she said.

The nomination that will take place for tomorrow is for the president, deputy president, 4 vice-president posts and for the 20-member central committee.

The polling will start on April 25 to May 11. The election results will be known for May 13.
