The father of the late Royal Malaysian Army Force (RMAF) pilot who perished in an aircraft crash near RMAF airbase in Butterworth Wednesday said that he had a nightmare a day before the fatal accident.

M.Chellam told Astro AWANI today that in the dream his son, M.Kayamboo was just wearing a sarung in a room where another man was lying down clad in a pelikat sarung.

Appalled, Chellam related the nightmare to his wife, but he later brushed it off as merely a dream.

According to Hindu belief, the dream was not a good sign.

“I woke up and told my wife about my bad dream. In it (the dream), my son was wearing a sarong and it was not a good sign. I remember entering a shop and saw a man (also wearing a sarong) lying down before my son asked me to leave,” he said.

Chellam was speaking to reporters after the final respect ceremony at his residence in Taman Sri Nibong here today.

Chellam also said that his family had planned to celebrate the birthday of his son, who turned 45 yesterday.

The last time he spoke to Kayamboo was when the latter contacted him and in the brief conversation managed wished him a happy birthday and asked the son to rest well. Chellam also promised to celebrate his son’s birthday with the rest of their family members.

Chellam’s wish was never fulfilled.

The mood turned sombre when Kayamboo’s daughter showed the present she had prepared for her father.

Kayamboo died in the crash after the twin turboprop Beechcraft King Air B200T aircraft mishap at about 5.18pm, Wednesday.

Three other people including a co-pilot and two RMAF personnel sustained injuries in the incident.

Chellam is survived by his wife, S.Usha and four children aged between 12 and two.

The ceremony was attended by 100 guests made up of family members, relatives, close friends and colleagues.
