A post-mortem on a Taiwanese national who was shot dead by a group of armed men who also abducted another Taiwanese tourist on Pulau Pom Pom, Semporna last Friday will be carried out Wednesday at the Tawau Hospital.

Sabah Police Commissisoner Datuk Hamza Taib said the deceased, Hsu Li Min, 57, had been identified by family members and the body would be handed over to them after the post-mortem.

"Members of Hsu's family will stay for several days here to help in our investigations," he told reporters after handing over certificates to participants of a 2013 Crime Awareness Motorcycle Tour here Tuesday.

However, Hamza declined comment on the abduction of the woman by the group, believed to comprise Abu Sayyaf members, except to say that the police were working closely with the Philippine authorities.

Last Friday, Hsu was found dead in a room on the resort island with two gunshot wounds while another Taiwanese tourist who was with him, Chan An Wei was abducted by the armed men.
