A total of 39 episodes of food poisoning in schools across Perak were recorded for the period between January and Oct 12, involving 1,015 cases.

Perak Health Department director Datuk Dr Juita Ghazalie said among districts which recorded the highest episodes were Lembah Kinta with 10 episodes, followed by six each in Kuala Kangsar and Hilir Perak, while Larut Matang, Selama and Manjung recorded four episodes for each district.

"In August, a total of 15 episodes of food poisoning were recorded and it was the highest, followed by nine in May and four each in April and September," she said.

Dr Juita said this when speaking to reporters after the closing ceremony of the 'Bicara Kesihatan Dari Perspektif Syariah 2016' programme state-level here on Thursday.

In another development, she said the Bukit Merah Laketown Resort water theme park was expected to be re-opened on Oct 26 after its pool's cleaning and maintenance works were completed.

The theme park was forced to shut down on Sept 29, following a Rotavirus infection. - BERNAMA
