Perak Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir will not stop any UMNO division in the state from inviting its Deputy President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to open their meeting.
He said, Muhyiddin remains a party leader which deserves to be respected by all members.
“Respecting leaders is UMNO’s tradition. So, Tan Sri Muhyiddin should be respected although he is no longer the Deputy Prime Minister,” said Zambry during a press conference held after chairing the state Exco meeting here, today.
However, to date, two UMNO divisions in Perak have cancelled its invitation to invite UMNO vice president, Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal to open its division meeting.
The divisions were Ipoh Barat and Batu Gajah which had scheduled to hold a meeting on Sunday.
This matter was confirmed by both division leaders, Datuk Shamsudin Abdul Ghaffar and Datuk Mohd Yusoff Kassim.
So far these are the only two divisions which invited Shafie to open their meeting.
However, none of the 24 divisions in Perak had invited UMNO Deputy President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to open their meeting.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced the dismissal of Muhyiddin and Shafie from the Cabinet line-up.
However, both leaders retain their position within the party.
