The Fire and Rescue Department has reminded its officers and staff to refrain from playing the 'Pokemon Go' location-based augmented reality game while on duty.

Its director-general, Datuk Wan Mohd Noor Ibrahim, said the management was constantly monitoring all officers and staff and required them to strictly observe the rule.

The management would not compromise in the matter of officers and staff caught playing the game during office hours and in the vicinity of the fire tations, he told reporters here.

"It is the right of the individual to play the game but do not do so during office hours and while on duty so as to neglect responsibility. Action will be taken those who do so," he said.

On another matter, Wan Mohd Noor said fire and rescue personnel were always prepared to face the eventuality of floods in the east coast in November and December.

He said 13,000 officers and staff around the country were at the ready to handle the situation.
