No police have been arrested, as claimed in the social media, to assist in the investigation into the fatal shooting of former Alor Limbat assemblyman Alias Abdullah, last month.

Terengganu police chief, Datuk Rosli Ab Rahman said in the series of arrests of 10 suspects, no police personnel from the state or outside had been involved and detained as alleged and spread in the social media.

"I wish to state that all the suspects detained are local residents and none of them is a member of the police force," he told reporters after presenting the Excellent Service Award 2014 to 281 senior police officers, those from the lower ranks and civilian officers, including 77 officers from the state contingent headquarters, here, today.

Rosli said more arrests would be made soon to facilitate the murder investigation, adding that police were still investigating the 10 suspects, aged between 21 and 44 years, who are under remand until Nov 19.

On Oct 9, Alias, 51, was shot dead at close range at his house in Kampung Alor Limbat, Bukit Payong, Marang after returning home from Friday prayers.

Two months before this incident, Alias' cousin, retired teacher Mat Jusoh Ali or better known as Cikgu Zaki, was fatally shot in Marang.
