KUALA LUMPUR:The rivalry between two former prime ministers, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has not yet ended with both trading barbs on social media.

After Najib denied the statement of non-interference in the country's judiciary and laughed at it, Dr Mahathir replied by asking the Pekan Member of Parliament to pay attention to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) case.

Dr Mahathir also cynically said that if Najib could remember the issues that occurred in 1987 and 1988 - the UMNO election issue and the party's ban, then Najib could also remember the incident where he wanted to bathe the kris with blood.

"I think Najib should not interfere with the accusations against me. He should focus on the case of stealing billions of people's money in 1MDB.

"He also needs to pay attention to suing Tommy Thomas who linked him to Altantuya's murder.

“After all, if Najib can remember the issue that occurred in 1987/88, then Najib can remember (the event) that he flaunted the kris," said Dr Mahathir.

Earlier, Najib denied Dr Mahathir's claim that the revocation of UMNO’s registration in 1998 was evidence of his non-interference in the country's judiciary.

Supporting his argument, Najib shared what happened that year that caused UMNO to be banned and the new UMNO to be established.
