UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Razak and party executive secretary Datuk Abdul Rauf Yusoh will file an application tomorrow to strike out a lawsuit against them over the RM2.6 billion allegedly deposited into the personal account of the Prime Minister.

Lawyer Nor Emilia Mohd Iszeham, representing Najib and Abdul Rauf, told reporters that her clients would also file an application for a stay of proceedings of several applications by the plaintiff in the suit pending the hearing of tomorrow's application.

"We will file the applications tomorrow," she said after the case came up for mention in chambers before Deputy Registrar Norfauzani Mohd Nordin.

On Aug 28, Anina Saadudin, who was subsequently sacked from UMNO, filed a lawsuit, which she said was done on behalf of UMNO, against Najib and Abdul Rauf, seeking to claim a portion of the RM2.6 billion said to have been donated to Najib by a friendly Middle Eastern nation to help UMNO in its 2013 election campaign.

Anina's lawyer Aizul Rohan Anuar said today the court had ordered the defendants in the suit to file their statement of defence by Oct 1.

He said the court also set Oct 26 for case management before Judicial Commissioner Datuk Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab.
