The mysterious disappearance of medical officer Dr B. Sugumaran since early January, was finally solved when he was found staying at a hotel in Jalan Pudu here.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said Sugumaran, 50, was found by a special task force team at 7.30pm Friday.

"The team found Sugumaran when they checked on the hotel and initial investigations revealed he had been staying there since Tuesday.

"However, there were no criminal elements linked to his disappearance," he said when contacted by Bernama.

When asked on Sugumaran's health condition, Zainuddin said Sugumaran was fine and in stable condition.

Meanwhile, Sugumaran's cousin, D. Nithiananthan, 43, when contacted said, he was thankful and relieved over the news.

"I would also like to thank the police for their efforts in locating my cousin," he said.

Sugumaran, who is based at a clinic at the Parliament building here, was reported missing since early last month.
