The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and telecommunications service providers are looking at the possibility of providing rebates to customers for dropped calls.

Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Datuk Jailani Johari said they will study the matter of dropped calls which was caused by network problems.

"We continuously hold talks with telco companies for a solution to this problem. Should the network be the cause of dropped calls then a rebate will be considered," he said when wrapping up debate on the Supply Bill 2015 at the committee level for the ministry at Dewan Rakyat, Wednesday.

He added that the construction of 1,000 new telecommunication towers was also expected to widen coverage and reduce dropped calls in the future.
