KUALA LUMPUR: New COVID cases in Malaysia continue to rise with another 4,503 reported as of midnight Wednesday (July 28), taking the overall total to 4,664,213.

According to the Ministry of Health (MOH), 4,497 of the infections were local transmissions, while six consists of new imported cases.

Selangor reported the highest number of COVID cases with 1,706 infections.

The data from the COVIDNOW portal showed a total of 3,847 new recoveries, which brings the cumulative total number of those recovered and discharged to 4,581,365.

Currently, there are 46,906 active cases, with 59 being held under intensive care and 30 of those patients require ventilator support.

MOH also reported another 10 COVID-related deaths, taking the death toll to 35,942.

Malaysia administered a total of 14,337 COVID vaccine doses yesterday.

About 85.9 per cent of the nation have received at least one dose, with 84 per cent fully inoculated.

Meanwhile, 49.5 per cent have received the first booster jab and 1 per cent have received their second booster jab.
